Where Magic Lives: Horses, Motherhood, and the Art of Seeing
A tender reflection on where love, presence, and passion meet.
There’s a certain kind of magic that lives in the quiet places—the brush of a horse’s breath against your skin, the curve of a child’s cheek in golden light, the way a camera lets you hold it all just a little longer.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved horses with my whole heart. They’ve always been more than animals to me—they’re mirrors. Healers. Teachers. Being with them is like coming home to myself: raw, grounded, and fully present. That same feeling washes over me when I’m behind the camera, witnessing a mother with her child. It’s the same softness. The same strength.
Maybe that’s how it all connects—this life I’ve built around love. Horses taught me to listen with more than my ears, to trust what can’t be spoken, to be gentle and clear and fully awake in the moment. And photography? It gives me a way to offer that same presence to others. To witness. To honor. To show the beauty they may not always see in themselves.
Motherhood deepens it still. It makes the magic personal. It reminds me every day how fast it all moves, how precious and fleeting and achingly beautiful this life really is. So when I photograph, whether it’s a mother in her everyday strength or a child resting on the back of a horse, I’m not just taking a picture—I’m creating a kind of love story. One that says: This mattered. This was real. You were here, and you were seen.
I recently spent time photographing a young girl and her horse, and I felt that same soul-deep joy. The ease between them. The quiet trust. It reminded me of why I started this work in the first place—and why I keep coming back to it.
